Arma Reforger Community Radar #28 — Vietnam-Era Mods, AI Squads, A Military Working Dog & Modern RHS Armor

Community Radar #28 — #COMRAD, as Bohemia calls it — is the community showcase edition of the Arma Reforger news cycle, published on August 20, 2026. It's a roundup of what the modding community has shipped, plus creator videos and server spotlights.

For server owners it's genuinely useful reading: several of these releases are exactly the kind of content that pulls players into a community server, and most are plug-and-play Workshop additions.

The full showcase comes from Bohemia Interactive — read Community Radar #28 on the Arma Reforger site.

🔧 COM-DEV — The Mods Worth Adding

Service & Supply Vietnam

Vietnam-era operations get a serious upgrade: S&S Vietnam brings the classic Arma 3 Service & Supply Vietnam experience across as an official port, rebuilt with support from the original project creators — for players, mission makers and fellow modders. They also brought back SnS: New Wave, adding U.S. military clothing and equipment from the late 1970s through the late 1990s, with U.S. Army and Marine Corps gear in the works and Delta Force equipment planned.

Available on the Workshop: Service & Supply Vietnam and SnS: New Wave.

REAPER AiHelicopters

AI helicopter support got a major boost with REAPER AiHelicopters by r34p3r. It lets AI pilots fly, transport troops, land at designated zones and engage targets, working with both vanilla and modded helicopters through Game Master and the Scenario Framework. The 1.0.6 update adds hover waypoints, better landing logic, multi-weapon loadouts, WCS armament support, and simulation configs across a wide range of helicopters.

This is a strong pick for mission makers and Game Masters who want dynamic air support and transport without scripting every case by hand — REAPER AiHelicopters on the Workshop.

LONE ACTUAL: No Longer Alone

Aimed squarely at solo players: LONE ACTUAL: No Longer Alone gives you a full AI squad the moment you deploy, with roles including MG, AT, medic, marksman and RTO. Your squad mounts and dismounts with you, replaces fallen soldiers with same-role reinforcements, and brings extras like a faction truck, a supply-free arsenal and UH-1H support when a helipad is nearby — with no dependencies or setup required. It was built by a 6,000-hour Arma 3 veteran who got tired of fighting alone.

LONE ACTUAL on the Workshop.

K9 Max

K9 Max brings a fully scripted military working dog into Reforger, with commands for following, searching, attacking, detecting explosives, riding in vehicles and even airborne deployment. Players can customise Max with collars, goggles, camera helmets and tactical vests, then deploy him through kennels or Game Master setups for multiplayer operations. Still in progress, but server-ready — K9 Max on the Workshop.

RHS Modern REDFOR

Modern REDFOR armour is getting a major upgrade from RHS: the Kurganets-25 IFV and T-90M alongside a full suite of modular vehicle systems. Their latest update teases features like active protection systems, engine smoke, fire suppression, guided missiles, hunter-killer targeting, radar, thermals and fire control systems — a substantial jump in how dangerous modern armour combat can feel. Bohemia also published a Q&A with the RHS developers on YouTube.

🎨 COM-ART — Community Screenshots

Some of the featured shots this month, for a sense of what the community is shooting:

  • aiboyswich — British forces in the field, singled out for framing and gear detail.
  • Taylor John Pine — a mid-fight scramble with soldiers pulling an ally to safety through smoke: "no man left behind".
  • Médicos do SUS — a soldier's calm, serious expression with armour sitting quietly in the background.
  • Hauptmann — an Abrams framed against fog, sparks and a huge moon; armour warfare showing off its own subtle beauty.
  • Joshad2891 — a soldier pinned down on the radio, begging for support while things fall apart. Relatable.

🎥 COM-OPS & COM-VIDEO

  • Galactic Forces live showcase: Community Manager Nillers teamed up with the mod's developers for a live session bringing a sci-fi universe to Arma Reforger — robotic forces, energy shields, flyable dropships and orbital laser strikes, played out on Anizay as a live Game Master scenario. The Galactic Forces mod is on the Workshop.
  • Azzey breaks down the 1.8 Major Update — Far Hiding, AI detection, barefoot movement, squad roles, and expanded WCS fortification options.
  • JereZiii becomes an Uber driver in an active warzone, and somehow keeps moving.
  • BobKaladin takes a WW1 bolt-action Mosin Nagant onto The Eastern Front server against modern automatics. A choice.
  • Aadix and team demonstrate a coordinated effort clutching a match through contested ground.

📌 COM-REP — Reports & Spotlights

  • Major Update: the 1.8 Major Update.
  • Arma Support: a U.S. Army Bradley Commander answering armour questions.
  • Community Streams: meeting the RHS team under fire, Into the Fight with REGIMENT, and Galactic Forces.
  • Server Highlight: Server Spotlight #8 featured the Echoes of Hell community's public World War 2 PvE server, using mods from the Operation Overlord modding team plus the Warfare mod from Task Force Ghost — era-accurate gear, period weapons, and a campaign to fight through.
  • Community Spotlights: #26 and #27.

🖥️ What This Means For Your Server

  • Curated mods are your best recruitment tool. A Vietnam-era S&S server, a modern RHS armour server, an AI-heavy solo-friendly server — these mods let you define a niche instead of competing as "another vanilla server". The Echoes of Hell WW2 PvE setup in this issue is a perfect example of a server with a clear identity.
  • LONE ACTUAL and K9 Max are the two most server-friendly picks here. Both are designed to work out of the box in multiplayer, and both solve the same core problem — small groups and solo players finding Reforger's default AI limits restrictive. If your community struggles with low pop during off-hours, giving members a viable solo or two-player experience keeps them playing between scheduled operations.
  • REAPER AiHelicopters is a Game Master multiplier. Dynamic AI air transport and attack without bespoke scripting means your GMs can build bigger, more varied missions per session — more content from the same staff.
  • Test mod collections before you commit. Community mods move fast and several here are explicitly works in progress (K9 Max included). Pin versions, test on a staging instance, and remember that a mod update between your last test and your event night is a classic source of session-breaking surprises.
  • Expect mod churn around 1.9. With 1.9 rewriting vehicle and AI systems (see our other Reforger posts), mods touching those areas will need updates. Keep a known-good collection pinned before major game updates land.
  • Community servers are where these mods live. Bohemia showcases them, but someone has to host them — and mod-heavy servers with large player counts are exactly the workloads that punish weak hardware.

Conclusion

Community Radar #28 is a strong month: S&S Vietnam arrives as an official port with SnS: New Wave covering late-70s to late-90s U.S. kit; REAPER AiHelicopters turns AI air support into a Game Master tool; LONE ACTUAL hands solo players a full AI squad and K9 Max adds a scripted working dog; and RHS pushes modern REDFOR armour toward active protection, thermals and fire control. Add a Galactic Forces sci-fi showcase, a batch of community videos, and a WW2 PvE server spotlight — plus a reminder that you can submit your own content for the next issue via @ArmaPlatform or the #ArmaReforger tag.
