Counter-Strike 2 September 26 Update — Clipping Fixes, Stealth Reload Fix & A Clan Tag Server Option
A small September 26, 2026 update closed out the week, continuing the pattern from the previous few patches: Rush polish, another stealth reload fix, and — the item that matters most if you run a server — a new convar to disable clan tags on custom servers.
The official notes come from Valve — check out the Counter-Strike 2 update notes from the developers.
🛠️ sv_clantags_enabled — New Server Option
The headline for server owners, and the first CS2 change in a while that gives custom servers a new configuration lever:
- Added the
sv_clantags_enabledoption, so custom servers can disable clan tags.
Clan Tags returned in the September 23 update and show next to a player's name wherever they play. On a public competitive server that's usually fine — on a community server it can be less welcome, whether because of impersonation, tag spam, or simply not wanting Steam Group tags displayed in your own ranked or roleplay environment. Being able to switch them off server-side is the right kind of toggle: opt-out where you need it, unchanged everywhere else.
If your server runs on a competitive config, this is worth adding alongside your existing convar set. If you'd rather keep them on, nothing changes for you.
🎮 Gameplay
- Fixed some cases where loud reloads would persist while trying to stealth reload.
This is the third patch in a row touching silent reloading, and it's the fix that matters most for the mechanic's actual purpose. The whole point of holding the reload key is that you reload quietly — and if a loud reload sound kept playing anyway, then the risk you accepted for stealth was a cost with no benefit. Between this and the earlier fixes to the shotgun rate-of-fire and button-tapping exploits, stealth reloading should now behave the way it was designed: slower, but genuinely quiet. See our Rush Hour breakdown for how the mechanic was introduced.
⚔️ Rush
- Various gap fixes and clipping adjustments.
Rush has received clipping and gap passes in each of the last few updates — expected for a brand new mode with randomly selected arenas, where every geometry hole is somewhere a player can get stuck or shoot through.
🥚 Misc
- The eggs of background players in main menu lobbies now rest in nests. No gameplay impact whatsoever, and yet an entirely correct thing to ship.
🖥️ What This Means For Your Server
- Add
sv_clantags_enabledto your config review. This is the only item in the patch that requires a decision from you: keep clan tags on, or disable them. If your community has had issues with tag impersonation or clutter, you now have a one-line fix. - Stealth reloading now works as advertised on your server. Silent reloads that still made noise were a mechanic that punished the player twice. If your community has been debating whether silent reloading was worth using, that debate is now settled.
- No engine or protocol changes — nothing to update beyond the standard patch, unlike the September 23 release.
- Rush clipping fixes land automatically. If players on your server have been reporting a spot in Rush where they get stuck or shoot through geometry, re-test it.

Conclusion
September 26 is a compact patch with one genuinely new capability: sv_clantags_enabled lets custom servers turn clan tags off. Alongside it, a loud-reload persistence bug during stealth reloading is fixed — completing the work that made silent reload the quiet-but-slow trade-off it was meant to be — plus more Rush clipping passes and a small main-menu touch-up.
