Whether you've made a mistake in your configuration, encountered corrupted files, or simply want to start fresh, reinstalling your Garry's Mod server restores it to a clean base state. This guide covers a full reinstall through the NolimitHost Game Panel, and explains the difference between a full wipe and a core file restore.
What a Reinstall Does
A reinstall replaces the core Garry's Mod server files with a fresh copy. It is useful when:
- A core file has become corrupted and the server fails to start.
- You want to remove all custom addons, configs, and gamemode changes.
- You've changed game modes or plans and need a clean slate.
Warning: Option 1 below deletes everything on your server — including custom configs, addons, and maps. Back up anything you want to keep before you start.
Option 1 — Full Wipe and Reinstall
This removes everything and gives you a completely fresh server.
- Log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel and click on your Garry's Mod server from the dashboard.
- Stop the server if it is running — deleting files while the server runs can cause errors.
- In the left sidebar, go to Management > File Manager.
- Tick the checkbox at the top of the file list to Select All.
- Click the Delete button to remove all existing files.
- Go to Configuration > Server Actions.
- Click Reinstall. The panel will download a fresh copy of the server files.
Option 2 — Core File Restore (Keeps Your Files)
If you only need to repair corrupted core files without wiping your addons, configs, or maps:
- Log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel and click on your Garry's Mod server from the dashboard.
- Stop the server.
- In the left sidebar, go to Configuration > Server Actions.
- Click Reinstall without deleting any files first. The panel will restore core files while leaving your existing data in place.
After the Reinstall
Your server comes back with a clean configuration, so you'll need to re-apply your personal settings. server.cfg is the main configuration file for your server, where settings like the hostname and game mode are stored.
- Re-apply your
server.cfg settings (hostname, password, gamemode, etc.).
- Re-add your Workshop Collection ID in Startup settings.
- If you reinstalled ULX or other admin mods, re-run the superadmin setup — see How to Set Yourself as Superadmin.
Remember: Once you've re-applied your settings, press Start in the Game Panel to launch your server. Always stop the server before making config changes so it doesn't overwrite them.
