How to Add a Steam Workshop Collection to a Garry's Mod Server

Last updated: May 6, 2026

Adding a Steam Workshop collection to your Garry's Mod server is the easiest way to distribute addons, maps, and content packs to all players automatically when they connect. This guide shows you how to set it up in the NolimitHost Game Panel in just a few steps.

Step 1: Create or Find a Steam Workshop Collection

Go to the Garry's Mod Steam Workshop and either create your own collection or find an existing one containing the addons you want. A collection lets you manage all your server addons from one place.

Step 2: Copy the Collection ID

Open your collection page. The URL will look like this:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=123456789

Copy the number at the end of the URL — that is your Workshop Collection ID, the number Steam uses to identify your collection.

Step 3: Stop the Server

Log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel, click on your Garry's Mod server from the dashboard, and click Stop to shut the server down before making changes.

Step 4: Paste the Collection ID

In the left sidebar, navigate to Startup (or Server Options) and find the Workshop ID field. Paste the numeric ID you copied in Step 2.

Step 5: Start the Server

Click Start. On launch the server will contact Steam and automatically download every addon in your collection. Players will also be prompted to download the same content when they connect, ensuring everyone has matching files.

Updating Your Collection

To add or remove addons later, simply edit your Steam Workshop Collection. The server picks up changes on the next restart — no panel changes required.

Tips

  • Keep collections focused — avoid adding hundreds of addons as it increases player download time on first join.
  • Test each addon locally before adding it to your server collection.
  • Use separate collections for different game modes if you switch maps frequently.
